Emma is a Senior Associate Solicitor at CFG Law, having joined the team in 2017. Before joining the firm, Emma worked in the Serious Injury team for a large city centre firm but was lured in by the charm of CFG Law!
Emma is extremely tenacious in her approach to serious injury claims. If a client has a problem, Emma will do all that she can to intervene and help her clients in difficult circumstances.
Emma is also Secretary of the Headway Wigan and Leigh group, providing invaluable support to people who have sustained a traumatic brain injury. Emma’s input with the group has given her a true insight into the potential difficulties faced by people after sustaining a head injury and how she can provide much-needed support.
What attracted you to join CFG Law?
I had heard about the firm’s approach to client first service, and the emphasis on getting the essential early rehabilitation that people desperately need after suffering a serious injury. It felt like a good fit with my beliefs and approach to handling a client’s claim.
What do you enjoy about working here?
I enjoy the supportive team atmosphere where everyone is encouraged to gain experience and develop their skills, irrespective of their role within the firm.
Everyone is very friendly, enthusiastic and willing to help whenever you need it.
What is a typical day for you?
Every day is different at CFG! I enjoy a huge variety of work, ranging from working with clients who have suffered brain injuries, to supporting families where a loved one has suffered a life-changing spinal injury. I enjoy going out to see my clients face to face as it helps to build a much stronger relationship, and it is much more comfortable for our clients to be within their own familiar environment when discussing complex and emotionally-challenging issues.
We also enjoy a very pleasant working environment on Cheadle Royal Business Park where we have resident geese, swans, rabbits and a fox!
How would you describe the culture?
The culture of the firm revolves around the core SPIRIT values (Support, Passion, Integrity, Respect, Innovation and Teamwork). This applies to our work, our clients and to our colleagues. It is an incredibly supportive, positive work environment where everyone is ready to assist when you need it.
It is a very open culture here at CFG. As employees, we are regularly updated about the firm’s plans, what we are aiming to achieve, how we can help as individuals to achieve those aims and are kept updated about key developments within the business. This establishes a very inclusive feeling within the firm and makes people feel like their views are important and valid.
How has your career progressed since joining?
My career has progressed massively during my time at CFG Law. I worked at a large national firm in Manchester city centre prior to joining CFG where I trained, qualified and developed my understanding, skills and knowledge regarding serious injury work for almost 9 years. Whilst it was daunting to move firms after all that time, I have enjoyed getting to know my fantastic team and I have developed my knowledge greatly of running complex catastrophic injury cases. I was made Senior Associate in April 2018 which reflects the hard work I have done in my (relatively short!) time here, but also demonstrates the commitment and investment the company makes in the staff by being truly interested in developing employees to achieve their career aspirations.
Tell me about your colleagues.
What can I say? They are a fabulous bunch! Everyone is enthusiastic, knowledgeable and genuinely happy to come to work each day. I feel very well supported by all of my colleagues and love working in such a positive environment, where we are all working towards the same goal of helping those affected by injury – together.
