Hywel is an Associate Solicitor at CFG Law and has a long-standing career in personal injury. He has worked gaining access to justice for injured people since 1996 and always puts himself out there to champion the needs of the people.

Hywel also sits on the board of Trustees of 42nd Street, a Manchester-based charity who provides support for young people who are under stress. It provides early intervention and better access to talking therapy to help children before they reach crisis point.
What first attracted you to join the team at CFG Law?
When I first joined CFG Law, there were several other people already at the firm who reported they were really happy working here and the environment described sounded like it would be a great fit with how I work. I was also interested in CFG Law’s approach to rehabilitation and treatment for clients. In my previous role I had done lots of work in psychiatric and psychological injury and CICA claims and moving to CFG Law gave me the opportunity to further my knowledge in this area in relation to catastrophic injury.
What have been your highlights so far working at CFG Law?
My role at CFG Law has allowed me to broaden my experience in personal injury and get experience in other areas of personal injury law using my transferrable skills. One of the main highlights has got to be the supportive atmosphere encouraging progress. With over 20 years’ experience in personal injury, I didn’t think I would still be learning from other people, but the guidance and support at CFG Law allows people to continue working on their strengths and brings out the best in people.
Do you have any application or career advice you can offer?
I would definitely say having a good look at the resources and information CFG Law offer about themselves and their services and seeing if this is a good fit with you is a good starting point. It is important to understand how a company works and whether this is an environment you would like to work in (e.g. working in a team with clear communication).
On the application itself I would recommend you give as full a picture as possible of the different experience and explain the breadth of your experience in the bigger picture and not just focusing on fee earning or case work.
