CFG Law sponsor brain injury survivor in Great North RunAugust 26th, 2016
CFG Law are proud to have sponsored Brooke Trotter, a brain injury survivor, who is running the Great North Run. Brooke sustained a serious traumatic brain injury back in 2007 when he was involved in a hit and run accident in Manchester City Centre.
Brooke is taking part in the Great North Run to raise funds for BASIC (the Brain and Spinal Injury Centre). BASIC is based in Salford and provides neurological rehabilitation services to individuals and families after they have sustained a brain or spinal injury following discharge from hospital.
After his accident, Brooke moved back to his hometown of Scarborough to start his process on to the road to recovery. In 2013 he made the decision to move back to Manchester, and BASIC helped provide Brooke with the much needed support and rehabilitation he needed. They provided him with therapy and education in their memory workshop, as well as a place to work.
Brooke commented on his time at BASIC, “I could not be more grateful to BASIC for all of the help and support they have provided me over the years. The work they do for people with brain and spinal injuries is fantastic and I don’t know what I would have done without them. It was one of the few places I had to turn to after my brain injury and they helped me to get my life back.”

Brooke has undergone extensive rehabilitation over the last 8 years’ and using fitness to help get back on track has been a huge goal for Brooke. CFG Law wishes Brooke the best of luck with the run and look forward to hearing how he gets on and his experience.
Brooke also speaks at various events about his experiences, as well as writing a blog sponsored by CFG Law to help increase public awareness and knowledge about brain injuries and how these can affect people. To read more about Brooke and his experiences visit his blog – www.braininjurybrooke.co.uk
