Can I change my serious injury solicitor?
If you’re unhappy with the way your claim is being handled, speak to us today about transferring your case.
Can I transfer my claim?
Yes. It is a common misapprehension that a person cannot change solicitors or that it will be difficult or will cost. This is not the case.
Your choice of a serious injury solicitor after an accident can make a huge impact on how your claim is handled and can also impact on how much compensation you receive. You need to have complete confidence in your solicitor to provide you and your loved ones with the support and guidance you need and to help you on the road to recovery.
Unfortunately, we have seen a rise in the number of people contacting us who have been let down by their solicitor and want to either transfer their case to get better or have been unhappy with the outcome and are seeking help with professional negligence claims.
We regularly have cases transferred to us, and commonly take over claims started by other firms. This can be for a number of reasons including concerns over the experience of the former solicitor, the level of service or that there was no focus on the injured person’s needs and wellbeing.
Common reasons for changing solicitors and professional negligence claims
- The quality of work from the solicitor and their firm is poor.
- A lack of communication (no updates with what is happening, either by telephone, letter or email).
- Your case is being handled day-to-day by someone who is not a qualified solicitor.
- Periods of time where your claim does not seem to be progressing or no further work has been carried out.
- You have been given advice which you do not understand or you are not satisfied with.
- You feel that your solicitor is not acting in your best interests.
- Your claim is being handled by a large “claims factory” or a firm where you feel you are one of many clients with no personal focus.
- You feel that the solicitor is not supportive in helping you and your family with your immediate and long-term needs and recovery.
- Your case has been settled but you feel there have been mistakes and you are not happy with the amount of compensation you have received.
If you are unhappy with your solicitor and are concerned with the way your serious injury claim is (or has been) handled, contact CFG Law for free advice with no obligation.
Will it cost me anything to transfer my case?
No, it will not cost you to transfer you claim from one solicitor to another. Your new solicitor will make the necessary arrangements to pay any outstanding charges on your current file from the insurer once your claim has been settled.
We will review your case for free and advise you whether we can help. Thereafter, we operate on a no win no fee basis, so there’s no cost if you lose.
What if I am unhappy with the amount of compensation I have received?
We will review your case to check whether your claim has been undervalued. If your claim has been undervalued, we can help pursue a professional negligence claim against your previous solicitors to claim for any additional compensation we believe you should have received.
