Jonathan Fogerty

Associate Solicitor

Jonathan Fogerty is an Associate Solicitor and joined CFG Law in 2019. He has extensive experience helping people after serious and catastrophic injuries and is particularly passionate about supporting those affected by spinal cord injury.

Jonathan is 46 and has been a tetraplegic and a wheelchair user for over 30 years following his injury in 1988 when aged 14, he dived into the shallow end of a swimming pool. His head struck the bottom of the pool, breaking his neck at C5/6 and instantly rendering him paralysed and a wheelchair user. Jonathan was treated and rehabilitated at the Southport Spinal Injuries Centre.

Because of his background, Jonathan has a close interest in spinal cord injury cases and is a strong advocate for those living with a disability. Identifying rehabilitation is key for Jonathan to improve quality of life and so the claimant becomes as functionally independent as possible.

Feedback from previous clients has praised the support Jonathan has provided throughout the litigation, his approachable nature and his personal knowledge and understanding of catastrophic injury.

Areas of expertise and memberships:

Cases worked

  • A multi-million-pound claim on behalf of a cyclist who was knocked off his bicycle and sustained a spinal cord injury. The case was pleasing as a full therapy programme was established as part of the claim and the claimant was rehoused and even returned to his previous employment on a part-time basis.
  • A claim for a paraplegic man who sustained very serious shoulder injuries after getting stuck in a ceiling track hoist. The case was difficult on liability but eventually settled out of court with funds provided for long term personal care support
  • A claim for a pedestrian knocked over when crossing the road. Neither the claimant or defendant could recollect the accident and so expert evidence was crucial to reconstructing what had happened. Liability was established for the claimant and she was awarded a settlement to fund rehabilitation, equipment and care for the rest of her life.
