After a serious road traffic collision left Rebecca with life-changing orthopaedic injuries, we stepped in to ensure she had the right care, rehabilitation and financial security for the future.
The severity of Rebecca’s injuries meant she had to spend several months in an inpatient rehabilitation unit, away from her young family. This put a huge strain on her husband, who had to manage everything alone while caring for their children.
Her mobility was significantly affected, making their family home unsuitable. On top of this, she was unable to return to her career working with children, a job she was passionate about. Due to her complex needs, her husband had to give up work to become her full-time carer, creating uncertainty for the family.
How we helped
From the moment Rebecca left the inpatient rehabilitation unit, we arranged for a case manager to step in and support her and her family.
The case manager coordinated specialist treatment to aid Rebecca’s recovery and explored childcare options to ensure her children were well cared for and her husband felt supported. To help with everyday logistics, we used our emergency fund to set up a taxi account to assist with school runs and activities.
We worked closely with the defendant insurers to secure interim payments, ensuring Rebecca had the right support in place as her case progressed.
By gathering strong evidence to demonstrate Rebecca’s long-term needs, we secured a settlement that has given her the opportunity to purchase an adapted bungalow, improving her mobility and independence. It has also provided financial security for Rebecca and her family, allowing them to move forward with their lives, despite the challenges they’ve faced.
