Spinal cord injury client stories
Spinal cord injury claims are very complex and as such, it is vital you instruct a solicitor who has the expert knowledge of handling these types of claims.
Below are some case studies of recent spinal cord injury clients we have helped at CFG Law. Our focus is very much on accessing funding for support and rehabilitation from day one and providing ongoing support to you and your family.
Tetraplegia and brain Injury
Our client sustained a catastrophic injury, including a C5 spinal cord injury and a traumatic brain injury, when he was involved in a pedestrian road traffic collision.
He was suffering from a low mood due to having no psychological support and was also having difficulties keeping in touch with family and friends when we were first instructed. We provided immediate support whilst he was in the hospital with regular visits and liaison with the clinical team.
We also provided funding to help family visits to hospital due to him being located in a Spinal Cord Injury Centre 80 miles away from home, communication aids including a mobile phone to help him keep in touch with family and friends and also funded specialist assistive hand therapy technology so that he could benefit from an extra level of treatment to aid his recovery.
Due to the problems he was experiencing as a result of his brain injury, we liaised with the treating team and organised private Neuropsychology.
Despite no interim (early) compensation payments being received, our Client Support Managers further assisted with discharge to an adapted bungalow and purchase of equipment, as well as helping him with financial issues and benefits reviews and assistance.
His case is still continuing and we are putting in place ongoing plans to assist with his ongoing and changing needs.
Our client suffered a catastrophic injury, including a T12 spinal cord injury in a road traffic collision. Our Client Support Managers assisted immediately, using their experience to coordinate his initial transfer to a more specialist spinal unit.
Due to his complex needs on discharge, we have implemented a comprehensive rehabilitation and support plan with the sole aim of improving his independence and quality of life. This has included, for example;
- The purchase and adaptation of a suitable property.
- A driving assessment.
- The purchase of a suitably adapted vehicle.
- Purchase of mobility aids including a specialist wheelchair. We are also exploring Exo-skeletons and standing frames.
- Funding for treatment including physiotherapy and counselling.
- The implementation of a care package with a Personal Assistant.
- Financial assistance.
Our client was especially active pre-injury and enjoyed a number of adrenaline sports. We are, therefore, working to procure innovative equipment to assist with rehabilitation and also to help the client to return to his passion for motorcycling.
